The trip was a quick one. 17 miles across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and another 5-8 minutes after the tunnel and turn left. There we were in Cape Charles, Virginia. The Cottages are all original Cottages from back in the day when Cape Charles was a booming port town as the railroad from all points north ended there and a ferry system was used to cross the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.  Once the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was opened Cape Charles slowly withered away as most of the industries created by the rail road the port and the ferry system were of no need anymore. Trucks could now make the trip across the bay faster than the ferry could.
Now in 2006 this little town of Cape Charles is blossoming again with the tourism industry. Not many people are aware of this gem less than an hour from Virginia Beach. Click Images for the larger View
